John Way - Quality and Service from Internal Audit Recruitment specialists, IAC

Article By Matthew Doyle

I initially met the professionals behind what is now IAC over fifteen years ago. When I joined ICI, as Chief Internal Auditor, in 1999 I established a global co-sourcing agreement in place, with a Big 4 organisation, so there were no external recruitment requirements.
John Way In conversation with IAC
Despite this I found myself continuing a close relationship with members of the IAC team.

This was borne of my appreciation for the fruitful discussions we had concerning the wider recruitment issues within charity work. Throughout this time I have consulted with IAC regarding my personal job search, as well as liaising with them regarding recruitment campaigns and team building challenges, on behalf of my various employers.

“Building lasting relationships in the internal audit arena enables IAC to disseminate their knowledge, adding value to the assurance community.”

Throughout our sustained relationship, I have always felt it to be one of genuine partnership. It has a mutually beneficial dynamic. I have supported several , IAC run, Directors of Risk and Audit recruitment campaigns, in my role as a technical advisor. At the same time I have benefited from attending the bi-annual seminar series, run by the IAC team, which usually attracts around eighty Heads of Audit from FTSE 100/250 companies.

These events present an excellent opportunity for knowledge enhancement and effective networking. Initiatives like these, which enhance the internal audit community, are an example of what makes IAC such a valued and respected organisation.

John Way has significant practical experience and is the former Head of Risk Assurance at the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games Ltd (London 2012) where he developed and implemented the risk management function, a risk based Internal Audit function, the business continuity plan and Whistleblowers hotline. Prior to this John held roles as Director of Business Assurance at Centrica plc, Chief Internal Auditor at Abbey National plc and Imperial Chemical Industries plc, and Director of Audit & Risk management at Inchcape plc.
